“About Love” / a trilogy (approx. 3 hours)

“About Love” is performed in public places for chance passers-by.

It is composed of three images which evolve in a silent and slow meditative manner: 

* A woman wearing black who is holding a white porcelain bowl and a white baby`s shirt.

* A woman wearing black who is holding a colorful candy and a white baby`s shirt.

* A woman wearing black who is holding a print of Durer`s “Madonna and Child” and a white baby`s shirt.

Without standing in queue at a box office, without ordering a ticket in advance, and without forcing one`s way – on a platform, in the New Central Bus Station, in Tel Aviv, you will enjoy an amazing one-woman performance, presented to the public on Sundays and Thursdays.

Most of us associate the concept of art to a museum or to a gallery, to antique paintings framed and hung on the wall of a magnificent museum in the center of Paris, or in an exhibition where the audience strolls in awe and all one can hear are whispers in the background: “…ah, a beautiful painting …, simply, a masterpiece…,”.

Adina Bar-On brings art to us, to the passersby, without need to purchase an entrance ticket or to stand in line to an exhibit. All you need is to be, by chance, in the Central Bus Station, to wait for a bus, and there you will be touched. On a platform, in the midst of the commotion, amongst waiting soldiers and venders shouting, the first performance artist in Israel stands all dressed in black, holding a white bowl in her hand.

About Love for the Passersby is the title of a new performance by Adina Bar-On. With captivating glances, fascinating hand gestures, and a chilling silence, Adina gathers around her tens of people who are staring without understanding – is she crazy? A beggar? An actress? Yet after a few moments of observing the performance the thoughts about the woman are set aside and the situation begins to simmer through. The surrounding viewers are silent, watching closely, following every movement, in embarrassment. All around, slowly, discussions are evolving, is she speaking about death, bereavement, is she opposed to the religious or in fact, against the secular.

The situation that has been created in the Central Station alongside the bus terminals is electrifying, intriguing, daunting, and thrilling.

The performance artist makes the observers not only enjoy a masterpiece, but enables them to live the work and to become active participants in the creation. Adina arouses emotions and surprise, each time, anew. She moves as a sculpture that has awakened to life, like a sad clown needy of love, like a woman full of compassion.

In the Israeli reality, Adina`s performance functions as criticism and as a mirror to the daily life we are living. She successfully raises questions and thoughts, simply, just like that, in midday. It is strongly recommended. It is a onetime experience and an immersive one.

The performance is presented on Sundays and Thursdays. The artist`s other performances are mainly to friends and at “Adina’s place”, which is a smallish, temporary studio in the Central Station, beside other artists who are working in the Station. About Love has also been performed in Romania, and in Thailand, where it won much acclaim.

בלי להשתרך בתור לקופה, בלי להדחק בכניסה ובלי להזמין כרטיסים מראש, על הבמה, בתחנה המרכזית החדשה בתל אביב תנו ממופע מדהים של אישה אחת המוצג בימי ראשון וחמישי לקהל הרחב.

רובנו משייכים את מושג האמנות למוזיאון או לגלריה, לתמונות עתיקות ממוסגרות ותלויות על קיר במוזיאון מפואר במרכז פריז או לתערוכות בהם הקהל מהלך ביראת כבוד וכל מה שניתן לשמוע זה לחשושים ברקע ו-“מממ, ציור נפלא … , פשוט יצירת מופת …”.

עדינה בר-און, מביאה את האמנות אלינו, אל העוברים ושבים, אין צורך לקנות כרטיס כניסה ולא לעמוד בתור לתערוכה כל מה שצריך זה לעבור במקרה בתחנה המרכזית החדשה בתל אביב, לחכות לאוטובוס ושם זה כבר יגע בכם. על במה, במרכז כל ההמולה, בין חיילים ממתינים ורוכלים צועקים עומדת על במה אמנית המיצג הראשונה בישראל, לבושה שחורים עם קערה לבנה ביד.

“על האהבה עבור העוברים ושבים” זהו שמו של המופע החדש של דינה בר-און. עם מבטים כובשים, תנועות ידיים מרתקות ושקט מצמרר עדינה אוספת מסביבה עשרות אנשים בוהים ולא מבינים, הא משוגעת? קבצנית? שחקני מטורפת? אך לאחר כמה רגעים של צפייה במופע המחשבות על האישה נחות בצד והסיטואציה מתחילה לחדור לפנים. הקהל שותק מסביב, מתבונן, עוקב אחרי כל תנועה, שרוי במבוכה. מסביב מתפתחים אט אט דיונים, האם היא מדברת על המוות, שכול, האם היא נגד הדתיים או בעצם נגד חילונים.

הסיטואציה שנוצרת בתחנה המרכזית ליד מסופי האוטובוסים מחשמלת מרתקת מרתיעה ומרגשת.

אמנית המיצג גורמת לקהל המתבונן לא רק ליהנות מיצירת מופת, אלא, לחיות את העבודה ולהיות חלק פעיל מהיצירה. עדינה בר-און כל פעם מחדש, מצליחה לרגש ולהפתיע. היא נעה כמו פסל שהתעורר לחיים, כמו ליצן שזקוק לאהבה, וכמו אישה מלאת חמלה.

במציאות הישראלית המופע של עדינה מתפקד הן כביקורת נוקבת והן כמראה לחיי היום יום בהם אנו חיים. היא מצליחה לעורר שאלות ומחשבות סתם ככה באמצע היום. – מומלץ בחום. חוויה חד פעמית ומהפנטת.

המופע מוצג בימי ראשון וחמישי. מופעים נוספים של האמנית מוצגים בעיקר לחברים ולקהל מוזמנים ב”מקום של עדינה בר-און” הממקם אף הוא בחדר קטן בתחנה המרכזית, לצד חדרי אמנים נוספים שיוצרים בתחנה. “על האהבה” הוצג אף ברומניה ובתאילנד שם זכה המופע לשבחים רבים.
