This Analysis is about two works of performance-artist Adina Bar-On: View-the performance (1997-98) and View-the video films (1999). Next to the topic of peace the term of the romantic in its different meanings and their conceptual history will be of great importance: first in a sentimental sense of the term connected with the emotion of love. In interconnection with the view of nature the concept of (mostly German) early romanticism will get spoken of. View by Adina Bar-On is an Invitation to romanticise, in the meaning of the term informed by Novalis. While observing the artwork, transitions and transformations are an quite outstanding topic: the lines between the common and the private, the distant and intimate, between identification and individuality (or allegory and subject), between ideal and individual get blurred. In View this is accomplished by the means of intimacy, by love, by overcoming of the distance, by breaking with the canvas. There are different forms of transitions: an emotional one that is carried out by the monologue, a spatial, one of the rational mind (in this work connected with identification, allegory, ideal and an opposition opposite the sentiments) by the means of individuality, by the emphasis on the feeling and the contact between the artist and the recipient and finally a transition of the media and the medium.
